Confirming big changes to your money
Sammy can move a lot of money in one message: change a markup, lift a bunch of hours, add or drop lines. Most of the time that's exactly what you asked for. But a big move on your profit or your job cost is one you should see before it lands, so Sammy now stops and asks.
When Sammy asks you to confirm#
Sammy adds up everything a single message would do to your job. If that would move your profit or your job cost by a big step — roughly a quarter or more, and at least $250 — Sammy puts a Confirm the money card in the chat before applying the change that tips it over.
Small changes don't get a card. Neither does a change you've typed yourself in the editor. The card is for the moment Sammy's own actions would move your money by a big step in one go.
What the card shows#
- Your profit (or Job cost) from what it was at the start of the message to what it would be after the change, with the difference.
- This change alone — if Sammy already made smaller changes earlier in the same message, this line shows what the change waiting on you does by itself.
- Effective markup — for a markup change, the markup you'd actually be running before and after. Sammy works this out from your real profit and cost, not from a single setting, so it's the honest number even when phases or lines carry their own markup.
- Already applied in this message — anything Sammy did earlier in the same message that stays regardless of what you choose here.
Confirm or Not now#
- Tap Confirm and Sammy applies exactly the change shown, at exactly the figure shown, then carries on with the rest of what you asked. If the rest would also move your money by a big step on its own, you'll get another card for that. Money you've already approved is never counted twice.
- Tap Not now and Sammy leaves that change alone and tells you so. Nothing is applied. Sammy won't try to get to the same place by another route.
If you change your mind later, just ask again. Sammy will show you a fresh card with the current figures.
The money line at the end of Sammy's replies#
Whenever Sammy changes something that moves your profit, the reply ends with a line like Your profit on this job: $1,358.50 — this turn moved it up $396.60 from $961.90. That line is written by Sammy's checker, not guessed from the conversation, and the "from" figure is your profit at the start of the message, including any edits you made in the editor beforehand.
When Sammy changes a quantity or a rate, you'll also see What changed on the job, not just the price, naming each line and the move in its own unit, for example 4 → 12 hours. Check those describe the work you'll actually do.
Asking Sammy to hit a total#
If you ask Sammy to get the quote to a figure and pick hours or rates as the way to do it, Sammy won't quietly inflate hours or prices to make the number. It'll tell you the honest total, name the gap, and ask whether you'd like to add work or use markup. A quantity is how much work there is, and a rate is what the work costs. Sammy treats both as facts about the job, not as price dials.
"Sammy's suggestion" on a save card#
When Sammy offers to remember a rate for future quotes, look for a Sammy's suggestion badge and a line starting Worth a look before you save. That means the figure was Sammy's own working, not a number you gave it. Saving it makes it a standing rule for every future quote, so check it's the rate you'd actually charge before you tap Save.
